Kirsten King is the founder and owner of Fluidform, Australia’s premier Pilates studio and digital platform. For the past decade, Kirsten has built a loyal following of clients who champion her authentic and nurturing approach to exercise as much as her physical results.
Since founding Fluidform as the principal instructor in 2012, Kirsten has honed a unique teaching style that focusses on functional movement, postural alignment and the mind-body connection. Her name is synonymous with both expertise and experience and her tactile corrections are renown for achieving balance in clients.
While her career began with a passion for repairing the bodies of elite athletes, Kirsten has developed an innate confidence for connecting with people from all backgrounds and abilities. Fluidform is therefore customisable to all levels of movement, from specialised athletic training through to injury rehabilitation and pre- and post-natal support.
Identities such as Lara Worthington, Pip Edwards, Georgia Fowler, Nicole Warne, and athletes Buddy Franklin, Steve Smith and Greg Inglis have all benefitted from her highly-valued instruction. Other clients have travelled hours and even interstate for her small group and private one-on-one training.
The sense of care that informs Kirsten’s practice extends to each of her Sydney-based teachers, of which more than 80 per cent were clients before becoming Fluidform instructors. She considers her Surry Hills, Clovelly, Byron Bay and Newcastle studios as havens for inclusivity in addition to health and wellness hubs, something she is intent on fostering as she franchises her business into Bondi, Brisbane and Melbourne later this year.
In 2019 Kirsten launched Fluidform at Home, a digital platform that began as an extension of her studios, but has evolved into a holistic health and wellness offering. It allows anyone in the world to experience Kirsten’s unique methods of teaching thanks to more than 200 videos featuring reformer-at-home, mat, and boxing sessions. Specialised five-minute clips from her Relaxation Series can also transport clients to a place of calm and meditation before or after each session.
The monthly Fluidform at Home subscription not only offers members a personalised program, but also nourishing recipes, meal plans, and 70 challenges (from seven days to six weeks) filmed at iconic locations The Range and Raes on Wategos in Byron Bay, Sydney’s Wylie’s Baths and Dovecote on the New South Wales south coast.
Fluidform has enjoyed valued partnerships with like-minded lifestyle brands, including Estee Lauder, Jessica Alba’s Honest Beauty, re spin by Halle Berry, Allbirds activewear and Sakara Life. Most recently, Kirsten created a bespoke scent with Maison Balzac to bring a sense of relaxation and tranquillity into her clients’ homes. Classes have also been exclusively integrated into Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley and Jackalope Hotels.
As Fluidform enters its second decade, Kirsten remains inspired to support the individual goals and health journeys of her clients, while staying true to her core values of trust, care, and authenticity.
